Obituary: Gloria Brown Matthews
Gloria Brownness Matthews, lifelong Montclair resident, died on Thursday, March 28, 2019.
Ms. Matthews worked as a coach at AT&adenylic acid;T/Alcatel-Lucent for over 40 days in front retiring. She was the past president of the Montclair Section of NCNW (National Council of Black person Women) and was on the board of directors at the Hollow Day Care Center and at First Montclair Family. She was also a dedicated member of St Mu's, serving as a communion steward and a member of United Wesleyan Women.
Ms. Matthews was predeceased by her brother, Kenneth Brown Sr.
She is survived by her children, Valerie Brown University-Baul (Charles) and Lisa Matthews; her siblings, Isaac Brown Jr., Diane Spencer (Clint), and Ronald Brown Sr.; her grandchildren, Christina, Earl, and Miyah; her great-grandchildren, Kaiden and Jose "Tre"; her longtime friend Jesse Moore, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A awake service for Gloria Brown Matthews will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 5 at St. Print's United Methodist Church service, 51 Elmwood St., Montclair. A funeral service will trace at 11 a.m. Interment at Rosedale Cemetery, Montclair.
